It was an early champion of its coffee roaster www.deargreencoffee.com which started in 2010 and is still based in the east end of Glasgow. Recently voted as Micro-Roastery of the year for 2025 by Roast Magazine, it’s hard to find a better coffee roaster in Scotland. They are the first roastery outside the US to make the grade! Lisa, who runs Dear Green, is also an advocate of the Living Wage and the environment with her company also being B Corp certified.
Off those good foundations good coffee can be built, and it is here. I had a flat white today; I was watching the calories so I could have a cake from this stunning selection. I opted for a brownie! No photo attached as it seemed to disappear quite quickly.
The coffee menu is as you would expect with the standard variations on offer as well as a number of milk substitutes. Sitting alongside this is a stable menu of sandwiches, wraps and daily specials including a soup for when the weather turns. A house filter is usually on offer too. Expect queues as this is a tight little shop that gets busy at lunch due to its exceptional coffee and loyal customers in the city centre. Open Mon-Fri 8 (Sat 9) to 4.
